O-YES OS

An Indian Guy developed an 32-bit OS !!!

The below content is spreading around as a mail very fast recently.

This is not only ground breaking news; it's space-breaking news indeed. Fwd it to as many Indians as possible.

Desi Operating System"Ramlal Bhagat, a Class XII. student from Haryana,India has developed a 32-bit operating system demonstrated to be far Superior to any of the desktop operating systems in the market today. The program has been named "O-Yes". O-Yes provides operating system services on any Pentium-based personal computer (PC) and does not require MS-DOS as a base operating system.

The operating system's capabilities were demonstrated in a student convention at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi. HCL Ltd. conducted benchmarks on the system and published results,which are partly reported here:
* O-Yes is 34% faster than Microsoft's Windows 95 on similar hardware.
* It is 29% faster than IBM's OS/2.
* O-Yes loads 54% quicker than Windows 95 or OS/2.
* O-Yes has a customizable, user-friendly graphical User Interface (GUI), in which every program can be accessed with a maximum of two button clicks.
* The operating system provides plug n play capability with numerous hardware devices.
* It has a superior memory management function.
* The operating system is compatible with Windows 95 & Windows NT 4.0.

HCL, Ltd. has offered an unknown amount to Ramlal Bhagat for purchasing the rights to the software. Ramlal Bhagat, described as "quiet and philosophical" by his peers, was not available for comment. Suresh Reddy, spokesman for HCL Ltd.,said, "this is the operating system that the world has been waiting for". On HCL's move to purchase the rights to the software, he said, "We are here to ensure that Mr. Ramlal gets fair recognition and compensation for his innovation. HCL Ltd. can provide him a firm launch-pad to market software globally".

Is this the beginning of the end of the Bill Gates' monopoly? Let's see..."

Though from the screen shot it seems to be some kind of linux (*nix distro), it is very well optimized. Also it only uses the latest kernel 3.0 which is developed mostly by this boy. It has its own window manager which resembles kde and runs kde applications too. The desktop loads in a few seconds. (The star in the left top corner is a dead giveaway as it distictly looks like MDK 10.0, with KDE 3.2)

Well the other side could be -- It may be a hoax as it just struck as odd to me that the test benchmarks this "legendary OS" against IBM's OS/2 and Windows 95. So I did a google search and saw this news site though relatively unknown, I hope it's true.

If "at all" this is true do you think that the Government of India would have left this that cheaply/ easily!!! Won't they have published about this to the world market? Wouldn't there be a chat show with Ramlal Bhagat in almost all TV Channels? Won't the print media explore this and make as much money as they can?

Anyways, if interested to try it out, you may Download it ...

tum bhi in sab chakkero mein aa gaye master aur humein bhi chakker mein daal rehe ho? sehi hai

it is fake. if it is true then y his official site is not opening. and is only one person develop an 32-bit OS???

This is not fake. The OS was really bought by HCL Ltd during mid 90's and been shed off. This fact was published by an Indian IT journal. The reason may be of business interests between HCL and Microsoft.

CRAP, that's all what i can say!

A XII student designing a full fledged OS with the most efficient GUI!!! It is efficient than Windows95, which was built by thousands of nerds in Microsoft over a period of years, is the worst hoax I have heard in my life.

If that's true, my 2 month old son drives my BMW is also true!
see the detail news about my son at www.bbcnews.com/pushkar/
(which will never open.)
