Mehmood the comedian

Legendary Hindi film comedian Mehmood Ali died in the United States early today. He was 72 and was the uncrowned monarch of slapstick comedy. Mehmood had given absurdity a new dimension. He transformed inane senseless scenes into comedy.

Charlie, Johnnie Walker, Mehmood, Kishore Kumar, Tun Tun, Mukhri, Keshto Mukherjee... just the mention of these names brings smile on one’s face.

Johnny Walker ruled for nearly two decades as one of Hindi cinema's most sought after funmeisters. He was hindi cinema's first comic star and his popularity began to wane in the 1960s as Mehmood took over as the top comedian of Hindi films. Both were the best and Indian cienema will miss them.

The funny movies that come to mind are:
*~*Angoor, Chalti ka naam Gaadi, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Padoson, Golmal, Chupke Chupke, Choti Si Baat, Anand, Khoobsurat (1980), Andaz Apna Apna, Hera Pheri *~*
